Southern Shores Magic Hour with the Emery Family – Outer Banks Family Photography

It was great catching up with the Emery family again this summer in Southern Shores. It had been a couple of years since our last shoot together, and it was so fun to see how much the kids have grown, but still just as adorable as ever.

This week has been a scorcher on the Outer Banks, with temps sticking above 90 degrees most of the day. That’s why I’m extra thankful for the shady pockets of Southern Shores and the soft golden glow of Magic Hour. That hour before sunset is the sweet spot for family portraits, cooler temps, soft light, and everyone’s a little more relaxed after a day at the beach.

The Emerys were naturals in front of the camera. Whether we were tucked into the dunes or playing by the waterline, they made my job easy. These kinds of sessions remind me why I love doing family photography here in the OBX, good people, beautiful places, and moments worth remembering.
