Monterosso Family Beach Session – 13 Years of Friendship and Photographs

One of the best parts of being a family photographer here on the Outer Banks is getting to watch families grow up in front of my camera. I first met the Monterosso family 13 years ago when I photographed their wedding, and it’s been an absolute joy to reconnect with them year after year. From newlyweds to parents of two amazing kids, I’ve been lucky to document their journey every step of the way.

This year’s session took place in Corolla, one of the Outer Banks’ most peaceful stretches of beach. The dunes were soft, the wind light, and the ocean gave us just enough drama to make for some stunning backdrops. But the real magic, as always, came from them—warm, funny, and completely comfortable with one another.

We started with some classic family portraits, but it wasn’t long before the kids were spinning and striking poses. That relaxed, natural energy is what I love most about photographing on the beach, it gives families space to just be themselves.

After all these years, the Monterossos are old friends, and their sessions are exactly why I do what I do. I’m not just here to take pictures, I’m here to tell stories, build connections, and help families remember the joy of these seasons in life.
