One of my favorite parts about being an Outer Banks family photographer is getting to document families as they grow through the years. The Craigie Family had an especially meaningful reason for their session this time around. They recently welcomed another grandchild into the family and wanted to celebrate this new chapter together with updated family photos during their vacation in Corolla.
We met up during the Magic Hour on the beaches of Corolla, NC, and the conditions could not have been better for an Outer Banks family photography session. The soft evening light, rolling waves, and warm ocean breeze created the perfect backdrop for a relaxed evening with three generations together on the beach.
The newest little addition absolutely stole the show. That giant smile and tiny little teeth had everybody laughing all evening long. One of the things I always encourage during family photography sessions in the Outer Banks is for families to slow down and simply enjoy being together. Those genuine moments always become the photographs that matter most years later.
I also loved how naturally the Craigie Family interacted with one another. The grandparents were glowing the entire session, and you could tell how excited everyone was to celebrate the newest member of the family. Sessions like this are such a reminder that family photography is about more than posing for pictures. It is about preserving a season of life before the kids grow older, before the grandkids get bigger, and before another year quietly slips by.
Corolla continues to be one of my favorite locations for beach portraits on the Outer Banks. The beaches are wide, clean, and often give us beautiful soft light during sunset sessions. Combined with the peaceful atmosphere of the northern Outer Banks, it makes for an incredible place for extended family photography sessions.
As an Outer Banks photographer, I photograph many family vacations each year throughout Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Hatteras Island. Extended family sessions like this one are always special because they capture the connections between generations in a way that only family photography can.
Craigie Family, thank you again for allowing me to spend the evening with you all in Corolla. It was such an honor getting to photograph your growing family and celebrate your newest little grandchild together on the beach. I hope these photographs become memories your family treasures for many years to come.
