There’s something special about an evening session in Corolla during magic hour. The soft light, the cooler temperatures, and the slower pace always seem to bring families together naturally, and the White Family’s session was no exception.
We arrived on the beach just after the local lifeguards had wrapped up their evening training, leaving the shoreline calm and wide open for us to explore. With three generations together, including grandparents, plenty of energetic kids, and even the youngest little beachgoer stealing the show, this Outer Banks family photography session had a little bit of everything.
One of the things I love most about photographing large family groups in the Outer Banks is finding ways to make the experience relaxed and enjoyable for everyone involved. Every family has different needs, and creating a session that moves comfortably while still capturing genuine moments is always part of the process. The White Family brought so much warmth, humor, and patience with them, which made the evening feel effortless.
From playful group shots in the dunes to quiet portraits during golden hour along the shoreline, the session perfectly captured what makes Corolla family photography so memorable. The kids brought endless personality, the grandparents were surrounded by laughter, and the soft evening light gave us some beautiful beach portraits to finish the night.
Summer evenings like this are exactly why I love photographing families in the Outer Banks.
