One of my favorite parts of being an Outer Banks family photographer is getting to welcome familiar faces back year after year. The Yost family has trusted me with their beach portraits before, and it was wonderful to see everyone again during their vacation in Kill Devil Hills.
This year's session brought together 14 family members spanning three generations. The grandparents were surrounded by their three children, their spouses, and six energetic grandchildren, making for a fun evening filled with laughter, hugs, and plenty of personality.
We met at their rental house just before sunset, giving us easy access to the beach during the magic hour. The soft golden light was perfect for creating timeless family portraits while also allowing plenty of time for each family group, the grandparents with their grandchildren, cousin photos, and individual portraits of the kids.
One thing I always enjoy about photographing returning families is seeing how much everyone has changed. Little ones who were once toddlers are now full of confidence, teenagers have grown taller than their parents, and every year adds another chapter to the family's story. That's one of the reasons I believe family photography is such a worthwhile tradition. These images become a visual timeline that only becomes more meaningful as the years go by.
The Yost family was relaxed, easygoing, and wonderful to work with. The grandparents had the joy of watching all six grandchildren play in the sand while the rest of the family enjoyed spending time together on a beautiful summer evening along the Outer Banks.
Thank you again, Yost family, for asking me to capture another chapter in your family's story. I truly appreciate your continued trust and look forward to seeing everyone again on your next trip to the Outer Banks!
If you're planning a vacation in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Kitty Hawk, Duck, Corolla, or anywhere on the Outer Banks, I'd love to help you preserve your family's memories with relaxed, timeless beach portraits during the beautiful magic hour.
