When summer weather throws a curveball, you pivot—and that’s exactly what we did with the Bowles family! We originally planned to meet in Southern Shores, but a passing raincloud had other plans. So, we made a quick dash down the coast and found the perfect clear skies in Kitty Hawk—a move that paid off big time with beautiful skies and an empty stretch of beach.

This session was extra special because it celebrated not just one, but three families vacationing together. There was a brand new baby, a brand new grandmother, and so much joy between parents, siblings, and extended family. It’s the kind of shoot that reminds me just how magical the Outer Banks is for documenting life’s milestones.

The warm evening light, the soft sand, and the Atlantic rolling in behind us made the perfect backdrop for laughs, snuggles, and some downright stunning beach portraits. And honestly? Seeing the love and connection between these families made it one of my favorite sessions of the season so far.
