Bradley Family - Corolla Family Photography on North Carolina's Outer Banks

One of the best parts of being an Outer Banks family photographer is seeing generations come together for a week at the beach. The Bradley family did exactly that during their vacation in Corolla, gathering twenty family members for an evening filled with laughter, hugs, and plenty of unforgettable moments.

It was one of those classic summer evenings on the Outer Banks. The air was warm, the humidity reminded us we were at the beach, and a layer of clouds drifted overhead, creating beautiful soft light that was perfect for family portraits. Sometimes cloudy evenings are a gift for photographers, and this was definitely one of them.

With twenty people, we had plenty to accomplish, but the Bradley family made everything easy. We started with the full family portrait before working through each individual family, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, couples, cousins, and plenty of individual portraits along the way. By the end of the session, everyone had relaxed, and the smiles became even more natural.

One thing I especially enjoyed was photographing the older kids and teenagers. They're at such a unique stage of life, and taking a few extra minutes for individual portraits gave each of them images that feel more like senior portraits than traditional family photos. Those often become some of the favorite images from the entire session.

Of course, no large family session would be complete without a little personality. Before we wrapped up, everyone gathered together for one last fun photograph, complete with raised hands, huge smiles, and plenty of laughter. It's the kind of picture that perfectly captures what an Outer Banks vacation is really about: spending time together and making memories that last long after the sand has been washed away.

Looking through this gallery, it's hard to choose a favorite. From the classic family portraits to the playful cousin photographs and beautiful individual portraits along the shoreline, every part of the evening reflected the joy of having everyone together in Corolla.

These are the sessions that remind me why family photography is so meaningful. Years from now, the beach house may change, the children will grow into adults, and everyone will be a little older. The photographs become a way to revisit this exact week and remember the people who made it special.
