The Pittman Family - Golden Hour on the Outer Banks

There is something special about seeing a returning family step back onto the beach. By the time the Pittman family met me for their 7:00 p.m. session, the light had shifted into that soft, warm golden-hour glow that makes the Outer Banks feel even more memorable.

I have photographed the Pittmans before, and it was great to have them back in front of my camera. They brought the kind of easy energy that makes a session feel less like a formal photo shoot and more like time together. From the full group portrait by the ocean to the playful individual moments, there was no shortage of laughter or personality.

The family’s rich blues, whites, and soft coastal colors looked beautiful against the evening sky and rolling waves. We made room for everyone, with portraits of the full group, smaller pairings, individual portraits, and the kind of close, joyful hugs that say so much without needing an explanation.

One of my favorite images from the session is the group standing hand in hand at the edge of the water, looking out over the ocean. It is simple, but it captures what family photography is really about: being together in a place that matters, at a moment worth remembering.

That is why I love working with repeat clients. I get to see familiar faces, celebrate another chapter with them, and create new photographs that build on the story we have already started together.
