I had the privilege of photographing the Washington Family once again, this time on the peaceful north end of Duck. Eleven family members gathered on the sand — grandparents, their three grown children with spouses, two grandkids, and a beloved sister. It was one of those sessions where the hugs lingered a little longer, and the smiles carried a quiet strength.
The Outer Banks has a way of slowing time just enough to make room for what matters most. For the Washingtons, this beach session wasn’t just about updating the family album, it was about being together, fully and intentionally. There was laughter, plenty of goofing around, and a few moments where I could feel the love and support they share running deeper than words.
Photographing families like this is what makes my work so meaningful. Every frame tells a story, and sometimes, those stories carry more weight than meets the eye. I’m grateful to have crossed paths with this incredible crew and to help them freeze a few important moments in time.
